New Delhi, August 11 : Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke on the issue of atrocities against Dalits in Lok Sabha today. Asking parliamentarians not to politicize the issue, Rajnath Singh said that India could be made the crown of the world only when Indians consider humanity to be the most important thing of all. Responding to the allegation that it was after the coming of power of the Modi government that the Atrocities against the Dalits have increased , he said that they were mere rumors being spread against the government.
The key solution to preventing the misdeeds against downtrodden Dalits is their socio-economic development. Speaking on this, Rajnath singh said, “We can’t make progress until the poor and downtrodden are empowered. Blame game is not the solution. ” He further put allegation on the opposition and said that what the opposition, especially the Congress, had not been able to achieve in 55 years the government had achieved in 2, in terms of the development of the weaker sections of society.
The government of late has received a lot of flak for brutality against Dalits in the name of cow protection . The Una incident, which took place against Dalits in Una, Gujarat is one such example. Speaking on the issue, Rajnath Singh said, ” What happened in Una is painful and condemn able. The state Govt took whatever steps it could. ” ( ALSO READ : 22 year old thief killed for being Dalit )
