The twitter handle @HMOIndia has crossed the five-lakh followers mark within only a year of its launch in July 2014. PMOIndia is at the top with 6.9 million followers.

The home minister’s official twitter handle regularly updates on policy initiatives of his ministry, various programmes and photos and information on dignitaries who call on him, besides publishing his statements on important issues. The twitter handle of ministry of external affairs has 3.82 lakh followers, the ministry of railways has 3.96 lakh followers, ministry of information and broadcasting 3.80 lakh followers and ministry of human resource development 1.77 followers.
