Mumbai, Sep 8: In a latest development, former Mumbai Commissioner of Police (CP) Rakesh maria will continue to head the investigation in the Sheena Bora murder case. According to Maharashtra Additional Chief Secretary, Rakesh Maria, who was promoted to Director General of police Home Guard and civil Defence will continue to head probes into Sheena Bora murder case till probe is completed.

Maharashtra government on Tuesday shunted Rakesh Maria from the CP post and elevated him to DG post. The sudden order about the promotion of Maria raised eye brows as he was personally monitoring the Sheera Bora case involving several high profile people. Besides that, Maria’s term as CP was to end on September 30. The state government cited that it wanted to issue order before festivals. There were reports that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was unhappy with Rakesh Maria as the Sheen Bora case was getting undue attention. It was also speculated that Peter Mukerjea, husband of Indrani Mukerjea, prime accused in Sheena Bora murder is a close friend of Maria and that’s why why he was removed from the case.
