New Delhi, Apr 21: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Friday held architect of the BJP-PDP alliance government in Jammu and Kashmir, Ram Madhav and India’s National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit K Doval responsible for the ongoing unrest in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a series of tweets on Friday morning, Swamy, while reacting to the statement made by Ram Madhav in an interview to CNN-News18, said that the BJP-PDP alliance in Kashmir is the first admitted policy failure on television. “Ram Madhav admits to CNN-News18 that PDP BJP has failed. Then who is accountable but him and Doval?” he tweeted.
Ram Madhav, during an interview with CNN-News18, had admitted that the BJP-PDP alliance has failed to handle the unrest in Jammu and Kashmir. On being asked whether the alliance has become a liability now, Madhav said, “If you are asking me as to whether the BJP-PDP state government has done enough to control the situation, I am ready to admit that we could have done better. We should do better and it is our responsibility.”
Rejecting that the alliance is a liability, he said that BJP and PDP are together with a purpose, which is to provide good governance to the state. “We can’t blame anybody else because we are the ruling party. Situation is difficult but such situations have been there in the Valley so many times before,” he was quoted as saying further.
While answering whether India is losing the social media battle in the valley, Madhav said that discussion on the same is on with the concerned ministries and concerned departments while asserting that this is not going to decide whether you win or lose Kashmir.
Meanwhile earlier on Friday, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh called upon all states to ensure the safety of the Kashmiri students across India. He also insisted that they all are a bona fide part of India. Singh’s appeal to all the states comes after attack on at least 10 Kashmiri students studying at Mewar University Chittorgarh in Rajasthan. In a tweet, Rajnath Singh said, “I have asked the HS to immediately issue an advisory to all the states to ensure the safety and security of Kashmiri students.”
Several areas of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly Srinagar and Budgam are marred by the incidents of stone-pelting and violence. Recently, three videos of Indian Army personnel assaulting youths of Kashmir surfaced the internet. One of the video also showed a man tied in front of an Army jeep. The case received huge criticism from former chief minister Omar Abdullah.
