New Delhi: India is gearing up for the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha which is scheduled to take place today, on January 22 in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. Prime Minister has already reached Ayodhya for the Consecration and will soon be reaching the temple; celebrity guests including Sunil Mittal, Anil Ambani, Madhuri Dixit, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt have also reached the temple premises for the Consecration. Amidst the Pran Pratishtha preparations, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had alleged that the DMK government in Tamil Nadu had put a ‘ban’ on the live telecast of the Consecration Ceremony and also moved the Supreme Court for the same. As mentioned, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court by the ruling party against the ban by Tamil Nadu government, on the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha live screenings across the state. On this petition, Supreme Court has said that no one is bound to abide with oral orders ‘banning’ live telecast of Ram temple consecration ceremony in temples across Tamil Nadu and that the TN authorities must act in accordance with law and not based on any oral instructions ‘banning’ live telecast of consecration ceremony. The apex court has also recorded the statement of the TN counsel that there is no restriction on ‘puja archana’ in temples or live telecast of consecration ceremony.
As mentioned earlier, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in a series of posts on the social media platform ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter), alleged that the DMK government in Tamil Nadu had put a ban on the live telecast of the Pran Pratishtha on Jan 22 and had also stopped pooja and mass feeding programmes in the name of Lord Rama. The Finance Minister also shared a newspaper clipping that spoke of the ‘ban’. The Finance Minister, in her tweets said, “In HR & CE managed temples no puja/bhajan/prasadam/annadanam in the name of Shri Ram is allowed. Police are stopping privately held temples also from organising events. They are threatening organisers that they will rip off pandals. Strongly condemn this anti-Hindu, hateful action.”
Responding to these allegations, PK Sekarbabu, the HR & CE Minister has refuted the claims made by the Finance Minister and has said that it is unfortunate that someone like Nirmala Sihtaraman, who holds a ‘high position’ was spreading news which is ‘blatantly false and fake’. Sekarbabu further said, “The HR & CE department has not imposed any ban on devotees to organise special pujas, annadanam, or distribute prasadam in the name of Lord Ram.”
The Consecration of Ram Lalla is scheduled to take place between 12:15 and 1:00 PM today. This ceremony serves as the inauguration of the Ram Mandir after which the temple’s gates will open for the world.
