New Delhi, Jun 10: Ram Temple construction will begin before Lok Sabha Elections 2019 at the disputed site in Faizabad’s Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Unnao Sakshi Maharaj asserted on Sunday while stoking up a controversy. This is not the first time that the BJP MP has delivered such a statement. Last year, he said that “no power on earth” could stop the construction of a Ram temple in Ayodhya ahead of proceedings in the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition case in Lucknow.

Speaking at an event organised by Lodhi Community in Chhatarpur’s Khajuraho, he termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as country’s biggest brand. He also asserted that he will become the PM of India in 2019.

The Pune Police on Friday intercepted an internal communication of Maoists highlighting plans of a ‘Rajiv Gandhi-type’ assassination of Prime Minister Modi.

The letter was seized from the residence of one of the five people arrested in connection with the Bhima-Koregaon violence.

“Modi-led Hindu fascism is bulldozing its way into the lives of indigenous Adivasis. In spite of big defeats like Bihar and West Bengal, Modi has successfully established BJP government in more than 15 states. If this pace continues, then it would mean immense trouble for the party… Comrade Kisan and few other senior comrades have proposed concrete steps to end Modi-raj,” the letter read. “We are thinking along the lines of another Rajiv Gandhi type incident,” it added.

In the letter, it was also written that for Maoists, “defeating Hindu fascism has been our core agenda and a major concern for the party”. The assassination plot’s revelation has generated reactions across the political spectrum.

Congress Terms Narendra Modi’s ‘Rajiv Gandhi-like Assassination Plot’ a Publicity Stunt

Raising doubts at the authenticity of Pune police’s findings of Narendra Modi‘s “Rajiv Gandhi-type assassination plot”, Congress on Thursday took a jibe saying that whenever the prime minister’s popularity declines, he plants such stories. Calling the whole assassination plot a popularity stunt, Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam said, “It is PM Modi’s habit that whenever his fan following loosens, he spreads the rumours that he’s going to be assassinated.”

“I am not saying this is completely untrue but it has been PM Modi’s old tactic since he was chief minister. Whenever his popularity declines, news of an assassination plot is planted. So it should be probed how much truth is in it this time,” he added.
