Ranchi, Apr 20: Counting of votes for Ranchi Municipal Corporation Elections 2018 (Ranchi Nagar Nigam Chunav 2018) is taking place today. The Ranchi Nagar Nigam went to polls along with four other Municipal Corporations in Jharkhand on Monday, April 16. Counting is set to begin at 8 AM and the results are expected to be out by late afternoon. In the Ranchi Nagar Nigam, BJP’s Asha Lakra and Sanjiv Vijaywargiya are pitched against AJSU’s Kusum Ranjita Singh Munda and Munchun Rai for the Mayor and Deputy Mayor post. The two parties used to fight polls as allies till previous election and say that the results of these elections won’t have any impact on their alliance.

Counting for Ranchi will take place in Pandra Bazaar Samiti and Kundru. The Ranchi District Administration has trained government personnel roped in for counting votes at Pandra Strong room.

Ranchi Municipal Corporation, which is the state’s largest urban local body, recorded the lowest turnout of 49.3 per cent. RMC election candidates had said that they will approach the State Election Commission with complaints of errors and names missing from voter lists on polling day.

Meanwhile, counting of votes for Jharkhand Municipal Elections 2018 (Jharkhand Nagar Nikay Chunav 2018) is taking place today.
