Ranchi: A man allegedly killed his mother-in-law and ‘drank her blood’ in a bid to achieve supremacy in witchcraft. The accused was arrested on Monday night from a village in Ranchi district of Jharkhand.
Identified as Fhalindra Lohra, the 30-year-old accused, confessed to practising witchcraft and committing the heinous crime, to obtain greater powers.
The crime was reported from Rangamati village under Silli police station limits. The cops were informed about the incident by Sakuri Devi’s husband.
Parna Lohra found the body of his 45-year-old wife lying in a pool of blood around 4 PM on Monday. Soon after which he informed the police. The cops reached the spot, registered a complaint and launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
Fhalindra was arrested from a relative’s house. “He confessed that he was a practitioner of witchcraft. To obtain greater powers, he killed Devi with a sharp weapon and then drank her blood,” Police station officer-in-charge, Chiranjit Prasad, was quoted as saying in a report by Hindustan Times.
The accused had reportedly sacrificed animals – a duck and a buffalo calf. The police recovered the formed with its neck severed from near the house.
In another shocking incident, a man killed his mother who he suspected of practising black magic on him,. The accused identified as Srinivas was arrested after his father filed a complaint. The incident took place in Rajanna Sircilla district of Telangana. Police said that the accused killed his mother late on Sunday night by strangulating.
Meanwhile in Kolkata, a man was found living with his mother’s decomposed body. The incident came to light when the neighbours of Maitreya Bhattacharya complained about a stench from the house. The decomposed body of the woman was recovered from the house located in Salt Lake area. Cops claim that the mental health of the man is not stable. A probe in connection with the matter is underway.
