Ranchi, Mar 17: Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be required to pay one-time tax along with penalty after his sports vehicle ‘Hummer H2’ was ‘mistakenly’ registered as Scorpio by the transport department in 2009, said the district transport officer of Ranchi. As a result of the typing error, Dhoni was asked to deposit only 53,000 rupees as registration charges instead of four-lakh rupees.Also Read - MS Dhoni's Eye For Intricate Details & Practical Advice Will Help Team India: Virat Kohli

A person is supposed to pay 4 per cent of the actual price of vehicle as registration charge. Going by this, Dhoni should have paid Rs 4 lakh as the price of Hummer H2 was Rs 1 crore. Due to the blunder, the captain cool paid only Rs 53,000 as registration charge. It caused the state government a loss of Rs 3.5 lakh. (ALSO READ: ‘M.S. “He has paid tax till 2010. He will have to pay one-time along with penalty as per rules,” said Nagendra Paswan, DTO Ranchi. “The typist while uploading details of Dhoni’s Hummer couldn’t find the vehicle’s model type in options back then, as it is an international brand. As you can’t put in any further details until you select a model, he must have selected ‘Scorpio’ as model type for Dhoni’s car. It was a typing mistake,” he added.
