Voting will take place for Raybag (SC), Hukkeri, Arabhavi, Gokak and Yemkanmardi (ST) constituencies in the Karnataka Vidhan Sabha will take place on Saturday.
Bengaluru, May 8: Polling for the Karnataka Assembly Elections 2018 is set to take place on May 12, Saturday. Ahead of the voting day, the ruling Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) are caught in a high pitch battle. The counting of votes is set to take place on Tuesday, May 15. Voting will take place for Raybag (SC), Hukkeri, Arabhavi, Gokak and Yemkanmardi (ST) constituencies in the Karnataka Vidhan Sabha will take place on Saturday. Here are the details of these five Assembly seats.
In Raybag, BJP’s two-time winner Aihole Duryodhan Mahalingappa is pitted against Congress’s Pradeepkumar Ramu Malage. The Bahujan Samaj Party has also fielded Dr Rajeev Kamble on this seat. The seat is also seeing seven Independent candidates this election.
In Hukkeri, BJP’s 2013 winner Umesh Vishwanath Katti has been fielded against Congress’s Appayyagouda Basagouda Patil. In Arabhavi, BJP’s 2013 winner Balachandra Lakshmanarao Jarakiholi is pitted against Congress’s Arvind Mahadevrao Dalwai and JDS’s Bhimappa Gundappa Gadad.
The Gokak seat has been a Congress stronghold. Congress’s four-time winner Jarkiholi Ramesh Laxmanrao is fighting BJP’s Ashok Ningayyaswami Pujari on this seat this election. In Yemkanmardi, Congress has fielded its two-time winner Satish L Jarkiholi who is fighting against BJP’s Astagi Maruti Mallappa and JDS’s Shankar Bharama Gasti.
