Real reason for Bilaspur train accident revealed, loco pilot who was driving had failed..., major negligence of Railways exposed

Bilaspur train accident: Serious negligence on the part of the railway administration has been exposed in the train accident that occurred on Tuesday in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. An investigation has revealed that the loco pilot assigned to the local MEMU train had failed the railway’s mandatory psychological test. Despite this, officials allowed him to drive the train. Passing this psychological test is required to drive a passenger train.

On November 4, 11 people, including loco pilot Vidyasagar, were killed in a collision between a local MEMU train and a freight train at Gevra Road station. Initial investigations blamed flaws in the auto-signaling system and technical deficiencies, but it is now clear that human negligence was also a major factor. On November 6th, the Commission of Railway Safety (CRS) questioned more than ten officials and employees in the investigation.

Failed the test in June

According to reports, loco pilot Vidyasagar failed a psychological test conducted on June 19th. Despite this, railway officials ignored regulations and assigned him to operate a passenger train . According to railway regulations, freight train drivers are required to pass a psychological test before being promoted to passenger train duty. This test assesses a driver’s mental balance, quick decision-making ability, and emergency response.

Was railway administration aware?

The railway administration was already aware of Vidyasagar’s failure, so assistant driver Rashmi Raj was appointed alongside him. Despite this, assigning him the responsibility of driving the train is considered a serious lapse. The Railway Safety Commissioner has now initiated the process of recording statements from 19 employees involved in the case. The inquiry is ongoing at the railway division office, and statements from the remaining employees will be taken today, Friday.

Question on file approval too

Vidyasagar was promoted to loco pilot as part of the DRM-level promotion process. The file passed through the Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer and the Operations Department, where final approval was granted. The question is, how did a driver who failed the psychometric test get his file approved?
