District Collector and Magistrate Namrata Vrishni has exercised their powers under the Indian Civil Protection Code 2023, Disaster Management Act 2005, and Civil Defense Act 1968 and issued a set of directives for the urban and rural areas of Bikaner.
According to which, in case of an emergency or warning situation, a blackout will be enforced and during this period electricity supply across the district or in specific areas as per requirement will be suspended. The electricity department, relevant companies, and local municipal bodies need to comply with it.
During the blackout, the use of inverter-based power or solar lights in homes, commercial establishments, and industrial units is strictly prohibited. All markets, commercial establishments, shops, and restaurants in the district must remain closed from 7 PM to 5 AM until further notice. Lights within shops, as well as illuminated signboards, must also keep shut off during this period.
