New Delhi: Critical about the Central government over the CAA, and the NRC, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday said that all who came from Bangladesh and have been residing and casting votes in elections are Indian citizens and they don’t need to apply for citizenship again. “Those who have come from Bangladesh are citizens of India. They have got citizenship. You don’t need to apply for citizenship again. You have been casting your votes in elections, electing PM and CM. Now, they are saying that you are not citizens, don’t believe them,” Mamata Banerjee said. Slamming the Central government for failing to handle the communal violence in Delhi, Mamata said she will not allow West Bengal to turn into another Delhi. Also Read - Amit Shah Slams Mamata For West Bengal 'Riots', 'Goli Maro' Chants Heard in His Rally

“Don’t forget this is West Bengal. What happened in Delhi will never be allowed to happen here. We do not want Bengal to turn into another Delhi or another Uttar Pradesh,” she said.



Reiterating her stand that she will not allow the CAA to be implemented in her state, Mamata stated that she will not let even a single person to be driven out of West Bengal. She also went on to say that no refugee living in her state will be deprived of citizenship.

On Monday, the West Bengal CM condemned the violence in Delhi and called a planned genocide. “We are sad and depressed and condemn the incident that happened in Delhi. I think it is a planned genocide. We have to reach out to more people. We need to keep our ego aside,” Banerjee said.

She further added that she got three people arrested for raising sensitive slogans in Kolkata but people giving provocative speeches in Delhi have not yet been arrested.

“In Delhi, BJP leaders who gave provocative slogans have not been arrested, but I got three of the BJP workers arrested (on charges of raising ‘desh ke gaddaron ko…’ slogans in Kolkata) last night,” she said.
