Republic Day 2017: Delhi police issues traffic advisory; urges citizens to notify about any suspicious activity

Delhi police-General public and motorists are requested to keep patience, observe traffic rules & road discipline and follow directions of traffic personnel deployed at all intersections. People are requested to plan their journey in advance and keep sufficient time in hand to avoid inconvenience.

New Delhi, Jan 23: Republic Day Parade will be held on January 26, and preparations are in full swing to celebrate the Republic day. January 26 parade will be amid high security and for this, the Delhi police has issued advisory for people to follow proper guidelines as the city will be under the thick blanket of security due to terror threat. Also, the cops have urged people to notify the nearest policeman on duty about any unidentified object or suspicious person.

Republic Day Parade will be held on 26th January 2017.  The Parade will start at 9.50 AM from Vijay Chowk and proceed for Red Fort Grounds. There will be a related function at India Gate at 09.00 AM. In order to ensure free and uninterrupted movement of Parade along the route and to regulate city traffic, Delhi Traffic Police has made elaborate traffic arrangements.

ROUTE OF THE PARADE:

Vijay Chowk – Rajpath -India Gate – Tilak Marg – Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg – Netaji Subhash Marg – RedFort.

RESTRICTION ON ROUTE OF THE PRADE:

In order to facilitate the free passage of the Parade, movement of traffic on certain roads leading to the route of the Parade will be restricted as under:-

(1)    No traffic will be permitted from Vijay Chowk to India Gate on Rajpath w.e.f 03.00 PM on 25.01.2017 till Parade is over.

(2)    No cross traffic on Rajpath from 11.00 PM on 25.01.2017 at Rafi Marg,  Janpath, Man Singh Road till Parade is over.

(3)    ‘C’-Hexagon-India Gate will be closed from 02.00 AM on 26.01.2017 till parade crosses Tilak Marg.

(4)   Traffic on Tilak Marg, will not be allowed from 10.00 A.M. on 26.01.2017 on both directions. Cross traffic will only be allowed depending on the movement of the Parade.

The cross traffic on the route of the parade at Dr. Dinesh Nandini Dalmia Chowk (W. point) R.C. Aggarwal Chowk (ITO Chowk), Delhi Gate and beyond will be allowed depending upon the movement of the parade.

PROHIBITED AREAS:

Area bounded by T-Point South Avenue/Tyag Raj Marg – K.Kamraj Marg –R/A Sunheri Masjid Maulana Azad Road – R/A Man Singh Road – Akbar Road betweenMan Singh road & C Hexagon – C Hexagon between Akbar Road & Ashok Roadand Ashok Road upto R/A Jaswant Singh Road – Dr. Rajender Prasad Road – Redcross Road – Sansad Marg – Imtiaz Khan Road – Rakab Ganj Road – Pt. Pant Marg –Church Road up to T-Point Church Road/North Avenue (inclusive).

This area will be restricted and vehicles barring those with CONTROL & DUTY labels will not be permitted to ply inside this area after 11.00 PM on January 25, 2017, till the closure of the function on January 26, 2017.

RESTRICTED AREAS:

Area bounded by Kautilya Marg-Kamal Ataturk Marg-Dr. APJAbdul Kalam Road-‘Q’-point-Humayun Road-Subramania Bharti Marg-MathuraRoad-Bhagwan Dass Road-R/A Mandi House- Feroze Shah Road- K.G. Marg uptoTolstay Marg-Sansad Marg-R/A Patel Chowk -Ashoka Road-Baba Kharak Singh Marg-R/A RML Mother Teresa Crescent up to 11 Murti and Sardar Patel Marg uptoKautilya Marg will be restricted area Only labeled vehicles of the invitees and vehicles of bonafide residents of the restricted area shall be permitted to enter this area on 26.01.2017 from 6 AM till conclusion of the Parade at about 12.30 P.M.

No TSR and Taxi will be allowed to enter or ply in this restricted area after 6.00 AM on 26.01.17.Those visitors who are coming by auto/taxi may use ‘Park & Ride’ facility to reach the venue. Invitees are requested to follow the routes and instructions printed on back of the labels issued to them to reach the parking lots designated for their vehicle.

SUGGESTED ROUTES:

Road users for whom the journey is unavoidable and inclined to cross India Gate, are suggested to take the following routes.

 NORTH–SOUTH CORRIDOR:

  • Ring Road – Ashram Chowk – Sarai Kale Khan – I.P. Flyover – Rajghat –  Ring Road.
  • From Aurobindo Chowk– Safdarjung Road – Kamal Atatturk Marg – Kautilya Marg – Sardar Patel Marg –Mother Teresa Crescent – roundabout RML – Baba Kharak Sing Marg.
  •  Prithvi Raj Road –Rajesh Pilot Marg – Subramania Bharti Marg- Mathura Road.

 

EAST- WEST Corridor:

  •  Ring Road-Bhairon Road- Mathura Road – Subramania Bharti Marg – Rajesh Pilot Marg – Prithvi RajRoad- Safdarjung Road- Kamal Atatturk Marg- Panchsheel Marg- Simon BolivarMarg- Vande Matram Marg.
  • Ring Road-BhaironRoad- Mathura Road – Lodhi Road – Aurbindo Marg- Safdarjung Road – Teen MurtiMarg –Mother Teresa Crescent- Park Street – Shankar Road – Ring Road.
  •  Ring Road- BoulevardMarg- Barf Khana Chowk – Rani Jhansi Road- Faiz Road – D.B. Gupta Road.

For New Delhi Railway Station:

  •  From South Delhi:- Mother Teresa Crescent –R/A RML Hospital-Baba Kharak Singh Marg-Outer Circus Connaught Place-Chelmsford Road for Paharganj side or Minto Road-Bhavbhuti Marg for Ajmeri Gate.

 

  •  From East Delhi: Boulevard Road via ISBT Bridge – Rani Jhansi Road via Jhandewalan –D.B. Gupta Road-Sheela Cinema Road- Paharganj.

For Old Delhi Railway Station:

  •   From South Delhi:Ring Road – Ashram Chowk-Sarai Kale Khan-Ring Road-Rajghat-Ring Road-ChowkYamuna Bazar- S.P. Mukherjee Marg-Chhatta Rail-Kauria Bridge.

Though there will be no restriction for people from North Delhi going to-wards New Delhi Railway Station or Old Delhi Railway Station yet it is advised that they plan their journey in advance and take sufficient time to reach their destination to avoid possible delay.

Bus terminating point:

Movement of the City Bus Services will be curtailed at the following Terminal points;-

       
1. Park Street/Udyan Marg 2. Aram Bagh Road (Pahar Ganj )
3. R/A Kamla Market. 4.  Delhi Sachivalaya (IG Stadium)
5 Pragati Maiden (Bhairon Road) 6. Hanuman Mandir, Yamuna Bazar
7. Mori Gate 8. ISBT Sarai Kale Khan
9. ISBT Kashmiri gate    

Interstate Buses:

(I)       Buses from Ghaziabad bound for Shivaji Stadium shall take NH-24, Ring Road &terminate at Bhairon Raod.

(II)       Buses coming from Ghaziabad side will be diverted at Mohan Nagar towards Bhopra Chungi for Wazirabad Bridge.

(III)       Buses coming from NH-24 shall take right turn on Road No. 56 and terminate at ISBT Anand Vihar.

(IV)       All buses coming from Dhaula Kuan side shall terminate at Dhaula Kuan.

Delhi Metro:

Metro Rail Service shall remain available for commuters at all Metro Stations during the Republic Day Parade on 26th Jan, 2017.

However, Entry/Exit at the below-mentioned station will not be permitted as per the given schedule:

Entry & Exit at Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan Metro stations will remain closed from 0000 Hrs  upto 1230 Hrs. on 26.01.2017.

Patel Chowk and Race Course Metro stations entry and exit will remain closed from 0845 Hrs. to 1230 Hrs. on 26.01.2017.

Central Secretariat station will only be used for interchange of passengers between Line 2 and Line 6.

HGVs/LGVs:

No HTVs/LGVs will be allowed to enter Delhi from borders from 2200 hrs on 25.01.17 till parade is over.

HGVs/LGVs will not be allowed between Sarai Kale Khan to I.S.B.T. Kashmiri Gate on 26.01.2017 from 0730 hours till 1230 hours.
