New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has issued an advisory in the wake of Republic Day 2019 celebrations in the national capital on Friday. The metro train services will be available for the commuters at all metro stations during the celebrations of 70th Republic Day on January 26 (Saturday), as per the advisory.

Further, the DMRC advisory states that the boarding and de-boarding facilities will be curtailed at four stations during the Republic Day parade on Saturday. (Republic Day Quiz: Can You Answer These Questions About January 26)

List of stations where metro services will be affected:

  • Kendriya Sachivalaya or the Central Secretariat: The passengers will not be allowed to avail the facilities of boarding and de-boarding from 5 AM till noon.
  • Udyog Bhawan: The services will remain curtailed between 5 AM till noon on January 26.
  • Lok Kalyan Marg (formerly known as Race Course): Boarding and de-boarding will be allowed from 8.45 AM to noon.
  • Patel Chowk: Services will remain affected till noon.

The Republic Day parade will begin at 9.50 AM from Vijay Chowk and move on to the Red Fort grounds via Rajpath, India Gate, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Netaji Subhash Marg. This year, the chief guest of the Republic Day Parade is President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa. He was accorded ‘guard of honour’ at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday morning.

In his first visit to India as the head of the state, Ramaphosa is reportedly accompanied by nine ministers and a 50-member business delegation. He is also the second South African president, after late Nelson Mandela, to be the chief guest at the Republic Day parade.
