Results for Goa Assembly Elections 2017 to be declared tomorrow at 8 AM

The exit poll results announced on March 9 has projected BJP to continue to govern the state followed by Congress to remain at the second position and AAP is projected to open its account in the state.

Panaji, March 10: The results of 40 Assembly constituencies of Goa Assembly will be declared tomorrow. The counting of votes of Goa Assembly elections will begin around 8 am on Saturday. The Goa Assembly elections of 2017 became more interesting after the entrance of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the state. With the entrance of AAP, a multi-cornered battle is being contested between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress, AAP and the grand alliance of Shiv Sena, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and Goa Suraksha Manch. A record 83 percent voter turnover was recorded in the 2017 Goa Assembly elections.

Exit Poll Results

The exit poll results announced on March 9 has projected BJP to continue to govern the state followed by Congress to remain at second position and AAP is projected to open its account in the state. The poll of polls have predicted BJP close to a majority but the survey has projected a hung government in Goa.

While BJP has welcomed the results of the exit polls, AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal had previously stated that “the results of March 11 will shock all the poll pundits.” (Also read: Defying exit poll results, AAP may still repeat mandate of Delhi in Goa)

In the 2012 elections, the state witnessed a change and BJP was voted to power. BJP emerged the single largest party in the state and the ruling Congress was limited to 9 seats.

Goa 2017 Assembly results will help the party to shape its image in the Indian politics. While BJP would continue to govern in the state if it emerges victorious, a victory to Congress would mean that the Goan voters have shifted their trust back towards the grand old party. If AAP emerges victorious, the party would repeat the history created by the party in Delhi and it would also help the party to damage the image of BJP before the Gujarat elections where AAP will be making its debut later in the year.
