New Delhi: The main accused of the Rewari gangrape case Nishu has been sent to 4 days of police remand, ANI reported on Friday. The victim was gang-raped on September 12 after being kidnapped and sedated by the accused. It is suspected that she was gang-raped by at least 12 men. In the FIR, police have identified three Pankaj, Manish, and Nishu as the accused. Pankaj is a defence personnel stationed in Rajasthan. Earlier,  state Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had appealed to the general public to not harbour the accused in the Rewari gangrape case. Assuring that the two absconding accused will be arrested soon, he said that if anyone is caught giving the two accused a refuge, strict legal action will be taken against them. On the same day, members of various women rights organisations protested outside the Haryana Bhawan in New Delhi, demanding justice for the victim and stringent action against the accused.

The mother of the victim had claimed that she was offered Rs 2 lakh compensation cheque from the government. However, she has refused to accept it and demanded justice for her daughter. The cheque given to the victim’s family is claimed to have been signed by “Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary District Legal Services Authority Narnaul”.

Ten teams were formed on Saturday under a Special Investigation Team (SIT), to probe the Rewari gangrape case.
