New Delhi, July 23: Shankar Charan Tripathi, the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s (RJD) national spokesperson has been expelled from the party for criticising Congress president Rahul Gandhi for his act of hugging the Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the no-confidence debate in Lok Sabha. Calling him (Rahul Gandhi) Childish, Tripathi had attacked the Congress chief at many platforms over his sudden show of affection for the Prime Minister.
While talking to a leading daily Telegraph over phone, Tripathi had said,”He (Rahul Gandhi) has been a parliamentarian for the past 15 years. It was not expected from a leader like him to wink on the floor of the House. So many cameras are installed in the house. Ward and watch people are also there. In such a situation he winked. His act was akin to that of Priya Prakash Varrier, whose act of winking in a clip of the movie Oru Adaar Love propped her to stardom.”
He had also slammed Gandhi on a private national television for levelling allegations on Narendra Modi-led government and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman over Rafale deal. Notably, the Congress party is an ally of the Lalu Prasad Yadav-led RJD in Bihar.
Notably, Rahul Gandhi on July 20 took everyone by surprise when he walked up to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and gave him a warm hug after finishing his speech during the no-confidence motion debate in Parliament. While some cheered and some made fun of this act, Rahul Gandhi explained his gesture saying that people may call him what they will but he doesn’t have any hatred in his heart.
