RK Nagar Bypoll: DMK Announces N Marudhu Ganesh as its Candidate

Chennai, Nov 25: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Friday announced journalist-turned-politician N Marudhu Ganesh as its candidate for the Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar (RK Nagar) Assembly constituency bypoll, which is scheduled to be held on December 21. Ganesh was fielded by the party for the earlier by-election as well. Bypoll to RK Nagar was cancelled due to allegations of large-scale cash distribution to voters.

Ganesh mother, Parvathi Narayanasamy, was a councillor between 1996 and 2001 when DMK working president MK Stalin was the Mayor of the Chennai Corporation.

Currently, he is serving as the party’s area secretary of RK Nagar (East) unit. He was born in Madurai and brought up in Chennai. A graduate from the Sir Theagaraya College in New Washermenpet, Ganesh later studied Law at the Venkateswara Law College in Tirupati.

The Election Commission on Friday announced that the RK Nagar Assembly bye-election will take place in December. While voting for the RK Nagar bypoll will take place on December 21, the counting date has been decided as December 24.
