New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested the wife of Rohit Shekhar Tiwari for ‘hatching murder conspiracy’, a police officer was quoted as saying to PTI. The son of late Uttar Pradesh CM ND Tiwari was declared brought dead by the doctors on April 16.
The development comes three days after she was detained, along with two domestic helps, by the police in relation with the death case of her husband. On Saturday, she was interrogated by the Crime Branch of Delhi police over the findings of the post-mortem report which revealed ‘asphyxia’ as the reason behind his sudden demise.
As per police media reports, Apoorva Shukla is the prime suspect in the case.
According to Rohit Shekhar Tiwari’s mother Ujjwala Tiwari, the relation between the couple was not a cordial one. There was tension between them since first day since they tied the knot.
On Friday, police had registered a case of murder and transferred it to the Crime Branch for investigation after the autopsy report revealed Rohit was strangulated and smothered with a pillow.
Revealing the findings of the report, the head of the AIIMS forensic department, Dr Sudhir Gupta, had said, “The medical board unanimously concluded that the cause of death in this case is asphyxia as a result of strangulation and smothering. It is a sudden unnatural death, placed in the category of homicide.”
Crime Branch officers visited Rohit Tiwari’s residence on Friday and interrogated his family members and domestic helps. The officers also went through footage from CCTV cameras installed in and around the house to find leads, ascertain the sequence of events and track people who entered the house.
Rohit Shekhar Tiwari, biological son of late ND Tiwari and Ujjwala was brought dead to a hospital in the national capital on April 16. He had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2017.
