New Delhi: The postmortem report of late former Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand CM ND Tiwari’s son Rohit Shekhar Tiwari has revealed ‘unnatural death’ as the reason behind his sudden demise, the Delhi Police informed on Friday. Earlier reports had claimed heart attack to be the cause.
On the basis of the findings of the postmortem report, which also claim that he was smothered to death with a pillow, a case has been registered under section 302 of the IPC (murder case) against unknown persons.
Rohit Shekhar Tiwari was brought dead to a hospital in the national capital on April 16. Confirming his demise, DCP South Delhi Vijay Kumar had issued a statement saying, “Rohit Shekhar Tiwari, son of late former Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand CM ND Tiwari, has been brought dead to Max Saket hospital. Further details are awaited.”
Rohit Shekhar was the biological son of ND Tiwari and Ujjwala Sharma, whom Tiwari married in 2014.
On May 29, 2013, Tiwari had given his blood sample for a DNA test following a Supreme Court’s order, after repeatedly contesting against undergoing the test on various grounds.
“The wounds will not go away even if I pretend. But all I want now is to spend some time with him. Our case has set a precedent and, hopefully, will help others who have gone through this,” Shekhar had said after the acceptance.
He had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2017.
