New Delhi, Nov 8: While nation was already left shocked in the evening over the decision taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to scrap the use of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes, another huge shocker came with the return of Arnab Goswami on Times Now. The popular news anchor was once again spotted on Times Now, discussing the steps taken by PM Modi to curb black money. Arnab was not seen on Newshour since the the past week, after he announced his resignation from the channel. It could not be ascertained whether Arnab has made his way back to the channel. However, he conducted a high-voltage debate on his show to discuss the implications of the move taken by his government.
“This is a major decision taken by the Narendra Modi government to fight corruption. This would upset no one, but those who are threatened by the crackdown on black money,” Arnab said. “People will support this move. People will support this fight against black money. People will support this fight against terrorism… Dawood Ibrahim is the beneficiary of black money. We know how black money is used to fund terrorism. We know how fake currencies are being used?” Arnab said in his trademark style.
The decision taken by Modi government has impressed economists and financial experts. “Excellent job by the government and managing to keep it a secret till the last minute. Brilliant move by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The step will disrupt the pace of development but the clean up was a much required step. This is the way to do it,” said HDFC chairman Deepak Parekh.
