Mumbai, June 3: The Rashtriya Swayam Sewak (RSS) is are always highlighted in the news for their controversial statement. This time one of the RSS leaders Indresh Kumar takes a charge and comes out with a controversial statement saying that the”western” tradition of Valentine’s Day is responsible for rape, illegitimate children, and violence against women. He even blames ‘western influence’ for the controversial Islamic practice of Triple Talaq besides female feticide.

Recently, Indresh Kumar’s suggested Muslim families to adopt cows and learn about their benefits and this took him to the controversies. Yet another controversy created by Kumar as he claims that the Western culture is responsible for rape and domestic violence in India. Kumar also thinks that not only India, the entire world is facing this problem today

While addressing to RSS volunteer in Jaipur on Friday he said,” one holds “sacredness” and “piousness” in India, but the West has commercialised it and given birth to the festival. In India, love has been sacred and pious. It has been sung as the tales of Radha-Krishna, Laila-Majnu and Heer-Ranjha but the western culture commercialised love and gave birth to the festival of Valentine’s day which is now responsible for problems like rape, illegitimate children and violence on women.

While speaking to ANI Kumar said, “Love is pure, but the western culture has changed it into a passion, which has somehow manifested into a business. The reason behind rape, divorce is this western culture. People are now expressing their love in the form of Valentine’s Day openly. This is what is responsible for the increasing cases of triple talaq, rape, domestic violence, killing female foeticide, etc.”

Reportedly, during addressing the RSS volunteers on the completion of a training programme, Kumar yesterday said that love holds “purity” and “piousness” in India, but the western culture has commercialised it and has given birth to Valentine day.

Rashtriya Swayam Sewak (RSS) leader Indresh Kumar is very well known for his controversial statement. Earlier, Kumar made headlines for saying that those who participate in ‘beef fests’ should mend their ways as they are bringing “shame to the country” by indulging in an act which is “against humanity”.

“Those who are doing this (beef fests) are just a few among the population of 121 crores. They do not represent the opinion of the nation. Their act and those who support it are evils and against humanity. It is better that they should change their ways,” he said.

This is not the first time when someone blamed western culture for the rapes and domestic violence in India. Many politicians in India think that western culture is the curse for India.
