Mumbai, February: The Mumbai police officials probing the Sandeep Gadoli encounter case has ‘detained’ eight members of Gurgaon police. The cops from Gurgaon who shot noted gangster Gadoli on Sunday morning arrived in Mumbai after the gangster was killed in an exchange fire.
The Mumbai police crime branch officials who are conducting the probe of encounter reportedly said that they have not yet ascertain the fact.
Gadoli was shot at a Hotel Airport Metro at Marol, Andheri (E) on February 7.
The next day of the encounter Mumbai police commissioner Dattatray Padsalgikar said that the Crime Branch will probe the encounter. It is believed that Gadoli was unarmed at the time of the incident due to which the theory of exchange of bullets comes into question.
The Indian Express reported that before raiding the hotel room, the Gurgaon police officials had called Mumbai police control room but never spoke to the officer.
After the encounter Navdeep Virk, Gurgaon Police Commissioner, said, “I think they were using Mumbai as their hideout”.
Soon after the exchange of bullets Gadoli was admitted to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Two policemen were also injured in the incident.
Gadoli, a famous gangster from Gurgaon carried a reward of Rs 1.25 lakh. He was reportedly wanted in 36 serious offences.
According to Human Rights guidelines, after an encounter crime branch has to go for a thorough probe in the matter. Meanwhile the cops in Mumbai have not yet given any statement in this issue.
