Agartala, Feb 12: Voting for the Tripura Assembly Elections 2018 will be held in single-phase on February 18. The 60-Assembly constituencies in Tripura are all set to go to polls. Santirbazar (ST), Hrishyamukh, Jolaibari (ST), Manu (ST) and Sabroom Assembly seats will vote on February 18. The term of current Tripura Assembly ends on March 14. The results of Santirbazar (ST), Hrishyamukh, Jolaibari (ST), Manu (ST) and Sabroom Assembly seats will be announced on March 3. A tough contest is expected between the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC) in Tripura Assembly Elections 2018. Santirbazar, constituency number 36, is reserved for scheduled tribe candidates. In 2013 Tripura Assembly Elections, CPI(M)’s Manindra Reang had won it against INC’s Gouri Sankar Reang. The seat will go to Tripura Assembly Elections 2018 on February 18. The results will be declared on March 3. The CPI(M) and BJP candidates for February 18 polls from this seat are Manindra Reang and Promod Reang. Hrishyamukh, constituency number 37, is currently held by CPI(M)’s Badal Choudhury. He had defeated INC’s Susankar Bhowmik in 2013 Tripura Assembly elections. The voting on the seat is scheduled for February 18 and the counting of votes will be held on March 3. For Tripura Assembly Elections 2018, Badal Chowdhury will contest on CPI(M) ticket whereas, Ashesh Baidya and Dilip Chauclhary will contest on BJP and Congress tickets, respectively.
Jolaibari (ST), constituency number 38, is reserved for the scheduled tribe candidates. It was won by Jashbir Tripura of CPI(M) in 2013 Tripura Assembly elections. INC’s Brajendra Mog Chaudhuri was the runner-up. For Tripura Assembly Elections 2018, CPI(M) has fielded Jashbir Tripura. The BJP and Congress have fielded Ankya Mog Choudhary and Braja Mohan Tripura for the polls scheduled for February 18. The counting of votes on the seat will be conducted on March 3.
Manu (ST), constituency number 39, is reserved for scheduled tribe candidates. The seat went to bye-election in 2014 and was won by CPI(M)’s Jitendra Chaudhury against INC’s Mailafru Mog. Manu (ST) will go to polls on February 18 during Tripura Assembly Elections 2018. The seat, for which the counting of votes is scheduled for March 3, will witness tough contest between CPI(M)’s Prabhat Chowdury and Congress’s Mongla Mog.
Sabroom, constituency number 40, was won by Rita Kar (Majumder) of CPI(M) against Premtosh of the INC in 2013 Tripura Assembly elections. The results for the seat, which will go to polls on February 18, will be announced on March 3. In Tripura Assembly Elections 2018, the seat will see a tough contest between Rita Kar (Majumder) of CPI(M), Sankar Roy of BJP and Mano Ranjan Datta of Congress.
The CPI (M) won 49 out of the 60 assembly seats in the previous Tripura Assembly Elections which were held in February 2013. The Congress had won 10 seats.
