New Delhi, October 06: Jailed AIADMK leader V K Sasikala on Friday was granted parole for 5-day to meet her ailing husband, who recently underwent liver and kidney transplant surgery at a Chennai hospital. Reportedly Sasikala had applied for 15-day parole but the Karnataka Prisons Department allowed her to leave jail for 5-day only, but with conditions.Also Read - Video: Sasikala Visits Jayalalithaa's Memorial For First Time Since Jail Release

According to the media reports, Sasikala cannot meet anyone during her stay in Chennai. She has been strictly asked to live at her daughter’s place. Apart from these, the jail authorities have also barred her from making any media statement as well as getting involved in any political activity. Earlier, Superintendent Somashekar had rejected Sasikala’s parole plea, citing inadequacies in the application. Somashekar had asked Saiskala’s counsel to make a fresh application, seeking more details and an affidavit. A couple of days ago, the liver and kidney transplant surgery of M Natarajan, the husband of former AIADMK general secretary was successfully carried out by the doctors of Gleneagles Global Health City in Chennai. He was on the wait list of the hospital since April. The surgery, which began late on Tuesday night, lasted for over seven-and-a-half hours, Institute of Liver Diseases and Transplantation director Dr K Illankumaran had informed media.

Sasikala is in jail here since February 2017 after the Supreme Court upheld her conviction by a special court in a disproportionate assets case. Along with Sasikala, her relatives Ilavarasi and V N Sudhakaran are also serving a four-year jail term.
