Speaking at a party rally in Nashik, Devdnera Fadnavis said that those who have a problem in chanting 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' have no rights to live in India.
Nashik, April 3: The row over the slogan of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ refuses to die, with many politicians and religious bodies already raking a storm over the validity of the slogan to establish one’s nationalism. Now, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has joined the brigade by giving making some controversial statements. On Sunday, Fadnavis said that the people who have a problem in chanting the slogan of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ had no right to live in India!
ANI quoted Fadnavis as saying, “If you want to live in this country then you have to say Bharat Mata ki Jai, otherwise you have no right to live here.” He added by saying, “Some people say we will not say Bharat Mata ki Jai. Then what? Pakistan ki jai or China ki jai?.” Indicating that chanting the slogan was the true and only sign of a patriot, Fadnavis said that Muslim priests had demonstarted their loyalty towards India, when he had visited a mosque in Mumbai. Fadnavis was speaking at a function in Nashik. ANI quoted him as saying, “Went to a Mazar in Mumbai, hundreds of Muslim priests chanted Bharat Mata ki Jai.Those who say Bharat ke tukde honge will fail.” Muslim cleric and Chief imam of the All India Imam Organisation (AIIO),Umer Ahmed Ilyasi has expressed dissatisfaction at his remarks saying, “No one has a right to decide as to who would live in this country or not. If you force certain things on people then it would give rise to hatred.”
Illyasi reprimanded Fadnavis by saying, “People on such responsible positions should refrain from making such statement.” Meanwhile, Maulana Kahlid Rasheed also calrified on the fatwa that some Muslim organisations purportedly issued against the slogan of Bharat Mata Ki Jai. “There was no need to issue a fatwa against ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ slogan,we condemn it”, Rasheed told ANI.
