New Delhi:Amidst the intensifying cold weather conditions in northern India, various state governments have decided to declare winter vacations in schools, considering the health of children. In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, the district administration has declared the closure of all classes up to grade 8 until January 10. Offline classes for grades 9 to 12 will proceed from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. In Delhi, winter vacations concluded on Saturday, and offline classes are set to resume on Monday with adjusted timings. However, the Delhi Government is expected to make a decision today regarding the continuation of the winter vacation.
All schools in the national capital will remain closed for six days and in Lucknow all institutions will be shut till January 8. The timing for classes 9 to 12 have been changed to 10 am to 3 pm in Lucknow. The director of Secondary Education issued a notification stating that order in which he wrote that schools up to class 12 of all boards will now open from 10 am to 3 pm.
Winter vacation has also been announced in Prayagraj till January 6. “In view of the outbreak of rain and cold waves in the district, keeping in mind the safety and health of the students, as per the order of the District Magistrate, teaching work will be suspended in the secondary schools of all the boards till January 6,” the administration said in an order.
Considering the bone-chilling cold conditions the district administration of Himachal’s Una has changed the opening and closing timings of all schools during the morning hours, officials said on Thursday.
Amid the Chillai Kalan period, the Jammu and Kashmir government has announced winter vacations for all schools in the state from December 6 to January 4.
In view of the cold weather, the Punjab government has taken the decision to change the school timing from 10 am to 3 pm. School holidays have not been extended.
The schools will remain shut until January 6 and reopen on January 8. Further, the district administration will decide to extend the holidays depending on the weather
Winter holidays are being observed in the state from January 1, 2024, onwards. The winter break will end on January 15.
