New Delhi, June 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will have an informal meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping tomorrow, i.e; June 9, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit. Leaders of both the countries will look at the implementation of decisions taken during the informal summit in Wuhan, almost a month ago, Gautam Bambawale, Indian Ambassador to China in Qingdao told news agency ANI. He added that terror would be a substantial part of the discussion as both India and Pakistan are participating with complete membership, in the summit.
Reports suggest that the SCO summit is likely to focus on the opportunities of cooperation amongst member states. Gautam Bambawale also said that Indo-China relations have gone through a transformation after Wuhan summit. “There is no doubt that India-China relations have gone through a transformation after Wuhan informal summit, we have left Doklam crisis behind & moved forward to better ties,” Bambawale said.

During the press briefing by the Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday, it was informed that Prime Minister Modi will be participating in the 18th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO summit. Further, Prime Minister Modi will hold meetings with various leaders of Central Asian countries.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to attend the summit. Narendra Modi met Russian President last month for an informal summit in Sochi.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation was formed in 2001. Among its members are Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, China, India, and Pakistan. Earlier in May, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj along with Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited China to take part in preparations for the upcoming SCO summit.
