New Delhi, Feb 17: Another scuffle broke out on Wednesday outside Patiala House Court between two group of lawyers. The battle was in full force even after Supreme Court’s order to maintain law and order outside Patiala court. The incident broke out during the the hearing of sedition case involving Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU) president Kanhaiya Kumar.
Reportedly, a group of lawyers led by Vikram Chauhan raised pro-India slogans of ‘Vande Mataram and Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ outside the Patiala House Court. The lawyers also waved Indian flags while Kanhaiya Kumar was presented at the court. They also reportedly assaulted journalist who was covering the events.
Tarq Anwar, a Firstpost reporter who was assaulted said, “When I took a photo of the scuffle, the lawyers started beating me up. I can identify him. Police was a mute spectator like yesterday. I have photos to prove”, said Tariq Anwar, Firstpost. He also said, “There were two groups, pro-Kanhaiya & anti-Kanhaiya group. One of the lawyer, Vikram Chauhan who raised pro-India slogans said, “People who said “Pakistan Zindabad” have been made heroes & we are being called ‘gundas’. They are trying to beat us up and we don’t even respond?” Following the clashes, more security have been deployed near the court premises.
