Bulandshahr (UP): Shabnam Rani, a Triple Talaq victim who had petitioned against Nikah Halala, was on Thursday attacked with acid in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr. Her brother-in-law and his friends are the suspects behind the acid attack on Shabnam.
The incident was reported when Shabnam Rani was at her in-law’s place in Bulandshahr. Two people threw acid on her when she was on her way to register a complaint against her in-laws who had allegedly assaulted her a day before.
She was immediately taken to a hospital and her condition is said to be stable. The victim married her husband 12 years ago, who later gave her triple talaq and forced her to undergo nikah halala with his brother.
She filed a petition against nikah halala and polygamy alleging that she was given a triple talaq and was even forced to undergo nikah halala with her brother-in-law so that her husband could re-marry her. She was given triple talaq one and half years after her marriage.
