Jodhpur, Mar 27: Shambhulal Regar, accused of killing a Muslim man alleging ‘love jihad’, was honoured in Jodhpur on the occasion of Ram Navami. Regar’s tableau was taken out by some men and honoured for his fight against ‘love jihad’.
In February, Shambhulal Regar sent out a video from jail claiming a threat to his life. In the video, Regar alleged that a prisoner from West Bengal named Vasudev Brahman could try to kill him. Calling on the people to join hands to fight “love jihad”, he added that he didn’t regret the crime he had committed.
The jail officials, however, didn’t find any cell phone upon a thorough search of his cell. (Also Read: Accused Linked Murder to ‘Love Jihad’ to Hide His Illicit Affair)

Justifying the act, the accused said that he burnt the Muslim man, identified as Mohammed Afrazul, to “save a girl from love jihad“. “Jihadists, leave our country or you will meet the same fate,” he later said in the video.
