Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar defied death rumours today by sharing a video from the hospital he is being treated in. The veteran politician had been admitted to the Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune for what is being called a minor kidney problem. On the morning of Republic Day 2016, a rumour on social networking site WhatsApp was being spread with a message about Pawar’s passing away.

People believed this even when the Maharashtra leader had shared a Happy Republic Day message on Twitter this morning! He later said on Twitter, “I am well and perfectly fine. Thank for your good wishes.”

Pawar’s video shared on Facebook by politician Dr Jitendra Awhad shows Pawar speaking about his death hoax with family and associates. Pawar is seen having a good laugh about the death rumours and condolence messages received by his secretary. Dr Awhad said on Facebook, “Pawar Saheb is fit and fine do not believe any rumours.” Watch the video here! (Please wait for the Facebook video to load.)
