New Delhi, Mar 31: Seven security guards of Sharda University were suspended after a video showing them dragging a Kenyan origin student and throwing him out of the campus. In the video, it can be seen that Kenyan student is purposely been pushed by the security guards and other security staff of the university. They are dragging him by hands and legs. The boy is screaming and trying to stop guards but they are not listening. Kenya student was studying in the first year of business management. As reported in Times of India, an association of African students said that victim had told them the guards treated him like “a suspect” although he carried his Identity card with him every time he left the campus. Briefing the incident, university registrar said that student was entering the campus with a pack of cigarettes and when he was stopped by the guards, he started misbehaving with them. But we have suspended all the security guard involved in this case and a proper investigation will be done in this matter. Even, the Association of African Students in India issued a demanded strict action against the university management.

Meanwhile, there were other reports also stating that district magistrate BN Singh took cognizance of the reports and formed a committee to investigate the matter.

The student from other nationalities often complains of ill-treatment meted towards them at the educational universities. This is the first time that a South African national was manhandled. Earlier also there has been incidents of racial discrimination and protests are also staged against such incidents.
