New Delhi: Union Minister Giriraj Singh lambasted Congress MP Shashi Tharoor for his statement that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is like a scorpion sitting on a Shivling for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Alleging the Congress of crossing all the boundaries, he said that if the leader would have been silenced by now, if it was Pakistan.
“Yeh Hindustan hai, agar Pakistan hota toh Shashi Tharoor ki zubaan ko chupp kar diya gaya hota. Unhone PM ka apmaan nahi kiya, croreon Hinduon aur bhagwan Shiv ko apmanit kiya hai. Main itna hi kahunga ki hadd ki seema paar kar rahi hai ab Congress (This is Hindustan. Shashi Tharoor would have been silenced by now, if it was Pakistan. He has not only insulted the PM but, crores of Hindus and Lord Shiva as well. I would only say this that now the Congress is crossing all the boundaries),” Giriraj Singh said.
Earlier in the day, hinting that the Prime Minister has reached beyond the limits of the right-wing organisation, Shashi Tharoor had said that the change in PM Modi’s personality over the years has not gone down well with the ruling party’s parent organisation.
“There’s an extraordinarily striking metaphor expressed by an unnamed RSS source to a journalist, that, ‘Modi is like a scorpion sitting on a Shivling, you can’t remove him with your hand and you cannot hit it with a chappal either’,” Tharoor said while addressing an audience at Bengaluru Literature Festival.
Reacting to the statement, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lashed out at Rahul Gandhi. While seeking an apology from the Congress, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “Rahul Gandhi you claim yourself be to a Shiv Bhakt please reply to this very horrific denunciation of Lord Mahadev by giving apology to what Tharoor has done.”
He added, “While Rahul Gandhi who claims himself to be a Shiv bhakt, one of his small leaders has almost abused the sanctity of Shiv Linga and Lord Mahadev by referring to chappal attack through named sources.”
