New Delhi, July 24: Lauding Congress president Rahul Gandhi for hugging Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Lok Sabha during no-confidence motion debate, Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) rebel leader Shatrughan Sinha on Tuesday referred his act as ‘splendid’. “What’s the big fuss, hue and cry over a Pyar ki Jhappi”, an affectionate hug? Dynamic young leader of the youth & generation next, Rahul Gandhi spontaneously gave a warm hug to our Hon’ble PM after his speech in Parliament. What a splendid gesture,” Sinha tweeted.
Referring to PM Modi’s trademark gesture to receive all foreign dignitaries with a hug, Sinha further stated,”Hasn’t it been the trademark of our Hon’ble PM to receive all foreign dignitaries with a HUG..so what was so different now?Let’s accept it with love and grace.”Zara Si Baat Ka Afsana Bana Dete Hain log, Kaise nadan hai ki sholon ko hawa dete hain log.”
Earlier on July 20, Rahul Gandhi, after ending his speech in Lok Sabha, moved across the floor to get to the treasury benches to the Prime Minister. They hugged each other, and as Gandhi was returning to his seat, Prime Minister Modi called him back and exchanged pleasantries.
The Prime Minister, however, was left unmoved by this gesture and did not pull his string back before unleashing his wrath on Gandhi. Speaking in the Lower House of the Parliament, the Prime Minister had said, “I was surprised at Rahul Gandhi’s excitement to come and hug me. What is the hurry? You should trust the people in a democracy. Some people are in a rush to get to the treasury benches.”
