New Delhi: Congress leader Shatrughan Sinha on Saturday met Pakistan President Arif Alvi at the Governor House in Lahore. “Indian politician Shatrughan Sinha met President Dr. Arif Alvi in Lahore today. They discussed the importance of building peace bridges across the border,” the President of Pakistan said in a tweet. The two leaders reportedly discussed Kashmir among other matters of interest, news agency PTI reported, quoting a statement by Alvi’s office. Also Read - After Brief Relief, Kashmir Enters Lockdown Again, This Time Over Coronavirus



According to Alvi’s tweet, the actor-turned-politician ‘endorsed’ concerns of the Pakistan president about the restrictions in Kashmir, imposed since last year when the centre abrogated Article 370 (that granted special status to Kashmir) and bifurcated the state into two union territories. Sinha, a former MP and union minister, also attended a wedding function in Lahore on invitation of Pakistani businessman Mian Asad Ahsan.



A video of the veteran actor at the function along with Pakistani star Reema Khan had gone viral on social media.

Earlier in the day, Sinha said in a tweet had called his visit ‘purely personal’. “There was “nothing official, nor political about it”, the Congress leader had clarified.
