Mumbai, Sept 21: Breaking his silence for the first time on the mysterious murder case of Sheena Bora, Maharashtra Chief Minister on Monday said that the case was referred to Central Bureau of Investigation because it includes financial angle and it is beyond the purview of state police to probe the financial investigation. The much debated case was transferred to CBI two days ago on September 19. Few days ago, the prime investigator of the ‘Bollywood-style’ murder case, Director-General (Home) Rakesh Maria, denied to get involved in the case. He was investigating the case since the time he was Mumbai Police Commissioner.
As with each passing day, the mystery is becoming complicated, the real reasons behind the murder is yet to be known. The prime accused — Indrani Mukerjea, Sajeev Khanna and Shyamvar Rai — have confessed their involvement in the crime and are under the judicial custody of Mumbai Police. On Monday their judicial custody was extended for another 14 days till October 5.
Sheena Bora was murdered on April 24, 2012, allegedly by Indrani, Khanna and Rai who disposed off her partly burnt body in the forests in Raigad district.
