New Delhi: After climate activist Licypriya Kangujam, who doesn’t want to be called as India’s Greta, turned down Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s offer to be part of the #SheInspiresUs campaign on International Women’s Day, she slammed the Congress too for ‘using’ her as a ball for their political gains. Her jibe at Congress came after the party celebrated Licypriya’s action from its official Twitter handle. “PM Modi’s lip service & hypocrisy towards women empowerment has been called out by the brave environmental activist, Licypriya Kangujam. After rejecting his offer, she reminded the PM that listening to her voice is more important than any Twitter campaign,” the Congress wrote.
“OK @INCIndia. You feel sympathy for me. It’s ok. Let’s come to the point. How many of your MPs going to put up my demands in the ongoing Parliament Session both in Lok Sabha & Rajya Sabha? I also don’t want you to use my name just for twitter campaign? Who is listening my voice?” Licypriya wrote.
“Both the ruling Government and opposition parties are using me as a ball for their political gains to take jibe each other but my voices and major demands are keeping very far aside. This is not fair. I can’t tolerate all this,” she added.
Congress leader Shashi Tharoor replies by saying that he personally has taken up several green initiatives. “Dear Licypriya, your voice is ours too. For three years now I have been Convening a RoundTable on Air Pollution, calling for a National Clean Air Policy, held extensive consultations on the environment prior to the 2019 election; our stand is in our manifesto. We will!”” the minister wrote.
Licypriya replied and submitted her three demands.
