Shibu Soren, former Jharkhand Chief Minister, dies at Delhi’s Ganga Ram Hospital

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren died at Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi, where he had been undergoing treatment for a prolonged illness.

Shibu Soren News: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren died at Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi, where he had been undergoing treatment for a prolonged illness. His son and current Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren is currently in Delhi. Shibu Soren was put on ventilator support on Saturday. “Respected ‘Dishom Guruji’ has left us all. Today, I feel completely empty…,” Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren wrote on X.

Shibu Soren, 81, was receiving regular treatment at the hospital for an extended period. “He was admitted here recently, so we came to see him. His health issues are currently being examined,” Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said on June 24 when his father was admitted.

Shibu Soren has been the leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha for the past 38 years and is recognised as the party’s founding patron.

PM Modi pays Tribute:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to former Jharkhand chief minister Shibu Soren, saying he was particularly passionate about empowering tribal communities, and the poor and downtrodden. PM Modi spoke to Hemant Soren and expressed his condolences.

He said on X, “Shri Shibu Soren Ji was a grassroots leader who rose through the ranks of public life with unwavering dedication to the people. He was particularly passionate about empowering tribal communities, the poor and downtrodden.”

He added, “Pained by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family and admirers. Spoke to Jharkhand CM Shri Hemant Soren Ji and expressed condolences. Om Shanti.”
