New Delhi, May 15: The counting of the votes in Shimoga Rural, Bhadravati, Shimoga, Tirthahalli And Shikaripura in the Karnataka Assembly Election Results 2018 will begin at 8 AM. The constituencies went to polls on May 12. The main contenders in the Karnataka Polls are the BJP and the Congress party. All you need to know about your constituencies

In Shimoga Rural assembly constituency there was a tough fight between the Congress, BJP, JD(S) and some independent candidates. BJP had fielded KB Ashok Naik, while Congress nominated Dr Sreenivas Kariyanna and JD(S) entrusted Sharada Puryanaik. Meanwhile, Bhadravati which is constituency number 112 saw a tough fight between BJP’s Praveen Patel Congress’ BKSangameshwara, JDS’ Appaji MJ. In Shimoga constituency BJP, Congress and JD(s) were the main contenders. Prasanna Kumar (INC). KS Eshwarappa (BJP), K.B.Prasanna Kumar (INC) and H.N.Niranjan (JDS) were some of the prominent candidates this year.

In Tirthahalli assembly constituency there was a tough battle between the BJP, Congress and some independent candidates. INC’s Kimmane Ratnakar is the sitting MLA of Tirthahalli presently. Meanwhile, Shikaripura  is considered a prestigious seat as BJP’s chief ministerial candidate BS Yedyurappa had contested from here. Yeddyurappa contested from his hometown Shikaripura in Shivamogga district, about 300 km northwest of Bengaluru, for the eighth time since 1983.
