Mumbai, Feb 15: Far-right political party Shiv Sena has demanded the most strictest form of punishment for the students in Jawaharlal Nehru University who sympathise with 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. The Hindutva outfit has not only demanded a crackdown on the “seditious miscreants”, but they have also demanded derecognition of those parliamentarians who support them. In its editorial in its mouthpiece Saamna, Sena advices Centre to take a cue from Pakistan, who lodged cricketer Virat Kohli’s fan in Islamabad behind the bars.
“When Pakistan can put a cricket fan raising India’s flags and supporting Virat Kohli behind the bars, then why are we treating the anti-national JNU students like kids?” Sena questioned. It further opined that the parliamentarians who support such anti-national elements should be derecognized from their elected offices.
“If lawmakers come forward and show blatant support to these anti-national forces, then there should be a provision introduced in the law which would allow the immediate dismissal of such elected representatives.” The hard-hitting comments in the editorial were directed at Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Anand Sharma, along with several veteran Communist leaders who expressed solidarity with the JNU students after Delhi Police began rounding up student activists.
Further taking shot at the domination of leftist intellectuals in JNU, Sena added, “JNU has now turned into a hub of anti-nationalism. They want destruction and disintegration of India. The campus is filled with Pakistani and Chinese agents.”
