Notably, Madhya Pradesh plunged into crisis after 22 Congress MLAs, considered loyal to Jyotiraditya Scindia, who joined hands with the BJP, resigned from the Assembly, thus reducing the Congress government to a minority. The rebel MLAs joined BJP yesterday. Scindia was present at the moment when they met BJP President JP Nadda. In the 2018 Assembly election, the BJP had selected the candidates following the suggestions of Chouhan. Hence, there are many Chouhan loyalists in the party and it will be risky to introduce a new face as Chief Minister at this juncture. Reports have claimed that Jyotiraditya Scindia is also in favour of making Chouhan the Chief Minister.
