Mumbai, November 27: In yet another hit-n-run case caught on CCTV camera, a speeding Wagon R hit two children in Thane, outskirts of Mumbai. The hit-n-run case took place on Saturday afternoon when the two kids were playing in a compound and suddenly they were hit by the speeding car. Also Read - IPL 2021 in Mumbai? Both the children were rushed to the hospital after which they were admitted in Intensive Care Unit. The two kids are identified as Jiya Kotak, 6, is in a critical condition and Parth Kotak, 8, is admitted with multiple fractures. In the CCTV footage, it can be seen clearly that few people are standing near a gate which is located in a lane. The driver behind the red colour car can be seen speeding towards children from behind and moving them down. He then tried to flee the spot after he was caught by locals standing there. The driver has been identified as Dilip Gunjal, a school teacher by profession who was later arrested by the Thane Police. A case of hit-n-run and a case of rash driving has been registered against Dilip Gunjal.
Initial investigation suggests that the accused was not under the influence of alcohol. After interrogation, Dilip Gunjal claimed that he lost control of the car and pressed the accelerator instead of brakes.
