New Delhi, Dec 16: With Rahul Gandhi’s elevation as Congress president, stall owners outside party headquarters witnessed a huge demand in the sale of party merchandise on Saturday.

Usually sitting under the shade of trees, away from the hustle-bustle of the party head office, the stall owners were a happy lot making some fast money. Scarfs, bands, key chains and car flags, diary having Rahul and Sonia Gandhi‘s photos on them. “The sale was much more than what we expected. The price of the products ranged from, Rs 5 to 50. “I had set up the stall at 8 AM and would be here for three more hours,” he added. Rahul Gandhi took over the charge from his mother and longest-serving president Sonia Gandhi on Saturday and the moment was witnessed by thousands of Congress supporters and workers. Party leaders across the country attended the event.
