Bengaluru, May 28: A Congress MLA Jamkhandi in Karnataka, Siddu Bhimappa Nyamgoud died in a road accident on Monday. The mishap took place near Tulasigeri when the Congress legislator was on his way to Bagalkot from Goa, reported news agency ANI.
The accident occurred after the left tyre of the Innova car, in which he was travelling, burst and the car smashed into a wall. Nyamagouda represented the Bagalkot Lok Sabha constituency and was the minister for coal in the central cabinet.
Karnataka Congress tweeted a condolence message after the death of the lawmaker. “Deepest condolences on the passing away of our senior leader and Jamkhandi MLA, Shri Siddu B Nyamagouda. The Congress party stands by his family in this hour of grief,” the tweet read.
Siddu Bhimappa Nyamgoud won election from Jamkhandi Assembly seat, defeating BJP’s Kulkarni Shrikant Subrao by 2795 votes. The Congress bagged 78 seats in Karnataka Assembly elections. After Nyamgoud’s death, it has now left with 77 legislators.
