New Delhi: National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, who has been given the responsibility to bring the violence in North East Delhi under control, on Wednesday visited the violence-hit areas and said the situation is under control. Taking stock of the situation, Doval visited violence-hit Maujapur, Jaffrabad areas and interacted with the local residents there. Also Read - Delhi Violence: Intelligence Bureau Officer Found Dead in Chand Bagh

“Situation is totally under control. People are satisfied. I have confidence in law enforcement agencies. Police are doing its work,” Doval said during his visit to Northeast Delhi. Also Read - Delhi Violence: 'Peace And Harmony Central to Our Ethos,' Tweets PM Modi

While interacting with locals, he said, “Prem ki bhaavna bana kar rakhiye. Hamara ek desh hai, hum sab ko milkar rehna hai. Desh ko mil kar aage badhana hai.”

The visit of the NSA comes at a time when 22 persons have died and over 189 have been injured after the violence broke out in the North East district of Delhi on Sunday night.

As per latest updates, 22 deaths were reported from the Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital and one from the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital.

On Tuesday night, Ajit Doval was given the responsibility of bringing normalcy in the national capital in the wake of the violent protests.

According to sources at the Central government, Doval will brief Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Cabinet about the prevailing situation in the national capital.

On Tuesday night, Doval also had visited Jafrabad, Seelampur, and other parts of North East Delhi and had held talks with the leaders of different communities.
