Delhi Bank Robbery: Two Men Arrested For Killing Cashier, Stealing Over Rs 2 Lakh; Four Absconding

Bank cashier Santhosh was reportedly shot dead with two bullets after he resisted their attempts to snatch money from him.

New Delhi: Two men involved in the bank robbery at Delhi’s Corporation bank were arrested by the police on Saturday. The incident took place on Friday afternoon when the six armed men allegedly killed a cashier in Delhi bank and stole cash over Rs 2 lakh. The entire episode of robbery has been captured on the CCTV camera installed at the place. The bank robbery, the first of its kind in a decade, took place in Corporation Bank in Chhawla town in south-west Delhi.

The masked men were seen thrashing the security guard and forcefully taking the rifle from him in the 90-second footage recorded in the camera. After snatching the rifle, the robbers shot the cashier in the bank and escaped with the loot.

According to the police, 16 people, which include 10 customers and 6 staff members, were held hostage at gunpoint by the armed men before their robbery attempt. Bank cashier Santhosh was reportedly shot dead with two bullets after he resisted their attempts to snatch money from him. The bank cashier who was taken to a private hospital was declared as brought dead. A senior police official reportedly stated that after the incident the accused fled on motorcycles.

With the help of the CCTV footage, the Delhi police have successfully identified the robbers. While two robbers involved in the crime has been nabbed by the police, search operations are underway to catch the other robbers. Police have found that the men involved in the crime hail from Sonipat and Najafgarh.
