‘Slapped, set ablaze with a lighter’: How 28 year old Nikki Bhati was killed by her husband after ‘years of torture’| All we know so far

Nikki Bhati and Vipin Bhati's son has reportedly said that his father poured liquid on his mother, slapped her and then set her on fire.

Greater Noida case: In a shocking tragedy emerging from Greater Noida’s Sirsa village, 28-year-old Nikki Bhati was allegedly set ablaze by her husband, Vipin Bhati in front of her son. Recounting the incident, the six-year old said his father poured liquid on his mother, slapped her and then set her on fire. Notably, Nikki succumbed to her injuries in a Delhi hospital, while her sister Kanchan, who was also married into the same family, briefly managed to record part of the attack.

“Fights between husband and wife are common. I have no remorse as I have done nothing. She died on her own,” accused Vipin said on the allegations.

What victim’s family says on daughter’s death?

As per a report covered by ANI, the father of the victim said that she had 70 per cent burns and was pronounced dead at the Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi along with allegeding that her in-laws killed her over their demand for dowry.

“Her mother-in-law poured kerosene while her husband set her on fire. They kept asking for dowry; now their demands have been met. I just married my daughter as per tradition. Their dowry demands have been met now that my daughter has died. They demanded a car and tortured my daughter for that”, the father of the victim said.

What has victim’s son said about the case?

“Meri mumma ke upar kuch dala, fir unko chanta mara, fir lighter se aag laga di (They poured something on my mother; slapped her and then set her ablaze with a lighter)”, Nikki’s six-year-old son was quoted as saying by a report by Hindustan Times.

In response to the case, Greater Noida ADCP Sudhir Kumar has said that a case has been registered against the Bhati family on charges of murder, criminal conspiracy.
