Shimla, Dec 18: The election results of Solan, Arki, Doon, Kasauli and Nalagarh constituencies of Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha will be declared today on December 18. Solan, Arki, Doon, Kasauli and Nalagarh seats went to polls on November 9 when polling for Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections 2017 was held. The counting of votes to elect MLAs of Solan, Arki, Doon, Kasauli and Nalagarh Vidhan Sabha seats will begin at 8 am. All eyes will be on Arki Assembly constituency from where incumbent Chief Minister Virbhadhra Singh is contesting. Virbhadhra Singh left his traditional Shimla rural seat for his son Vikramaditya Singh. BJP pitted Rattan Singh Pal against the Congress chief ministerial candidate. In 2012 Himachal Pradesh polls, BJP’s Govind Ram Sharma was elected as an MLA from Arki. Solan Vidhan Sabha seat witnessed an electoral fight between BJP’s Rajesh Kashyap and Congress candidate Dhani Ram Shandil, who is the sitting MLA from the constituency. In Doon Assembly constituency, sitting Congress MLA Ram Kumar is fighting against BJP’s Paramjeet Singh to retain the seat. Ram Kumar defeated BJP’s Darshan Singh by about 4,000 votes in 2012 Himachal Pradesh polls. Rajiv Saizal, the 2-time BJP winner, is hoping to win a third term from Kasauli Vidhan Sabha seat. He is pitched against Congress candidate Vinod Sultanpuri. Saizal won the Kasauli election by a narrow margin of about 20 votes, defeating Sultanpuri in 2012 polls.
